Critically analyse the differences between a technocratic model of care as opposed to a social model of care.

Critically reflect on routine interventions during normal antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care.

Outline Syllabus:The role of the midwife, historical perspectives, autonomy, accountability, guidelines, policies, government reports, global midwifery, media influences – press, social TV, film, working with other professionals and care givers, the influence of the family.
Module Overview:
To appreciate the presence of the woman in the childbirth continuum. This module is designed to support students to reflect on their future practice and the possible influences they will experience. This module assessment requires 40% minimum to pass the module.
