Aims

1 To provide a concentrated opportunity as part of a team to contribute effectively and creatively to the adaptation, interpretation, research, performance, design and production of a short film drama. 2 To foster creative thinking i.e. imaginative responses to production challenges both in terms of creative expression and designing solutions to problems throughout the production process.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Understand the principles of effective storytelling and interpretation in producing a fictional film.
2.
Apply techniques and conventions of filming and editing drama to tell a story.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Reinforcing and advancing application of filming techniques and conventions Introduction to script preparation, adaptation and character development Introducing the staging of film drama and directing actors Advancing storytelling skill using the moving image.
Additional Information:In this module students work in teams to produce a short film drama following a series of lectures, master classes and workshops. Pre-production preparation, casting, rehearsals, research, filming and editing will be undertaken independently much of which is outside of the scheduled timetable.
