Aims

To establish an awareness of the project stakeholders, the various procurement options and their associated contracts. Develop the ability to interpret the particular needs of different client groups to develop relevant procurement strategies and to apply techniques to support the implementation of those strategies ensuring that the project criteria are satisfactorily achieved.

Learning Outcomes

Identify the role of project stakeholders in the procurement process
2.
Evaluate current procurement options used in the UK construction industry and evaluate the allocation of risk within these options.
3.
Evaluate current tendering methods and their associated codes of practice used in the UK construction industry.
4.
Identify the various contracts available to the different procurement options and evaluate the allocation of associated project risk.
5.
Evaluate and interpret a client’s objectives with the aim of recommending an appropriate procurement strategy.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Introduction to stakeholders and stakeholder mapping. Strategies for stakeholder engagement. Philosophy of procurement, public and private clients. Risks inherent in the various procurement, contract and tendering options and their associated available contracts.
Additional Information:This module allows students to apply their knowledge to real life scenarios.
