Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The students will rehearse and perform 2 public performance projects within IAB theatres and/or in other venues. An IAB staff member or external director will lead the projects. The first project will be an interdisciplinary physical project run in collaboration with the Dance Department. The Acting and Dance students will undertake a sustained rehearsal period which will result in multiple performances, in one of the IAB theatre spaces, or an external venue. An element of preparation for this project may take place in Movement classes prior to the start of the formal rehearsal period. The second project will be the rehearsal and performance, in one of the IAB performance spaces, of a play aimed at children or young people. It is also intended that the production will make a short tour of schools, this will be dependent upon local health restrictions at the time of planning. As part of this process students will be expected to devise and run workshops on techniques and themes associated with the chosen play to one or more local groups. These projects will receive technical and creative support as required by the specific needs of production. Though they will not be fully produced as the L6 productions, they will represent the first experiences the students will have of professional theatre practices and protocols. The exact nature / choice of the performance projects will be dependent on the needs and aspirations of each group as considered by the Programme Leader, Module Leader and project directors.
Additional Information:This module equips students with the experience of applying and developing their technique in 2 performance projects. Assessment is via the rehearsal and performance of two projects.
