Aims

This module aims to help students understand how an understanding of Psychology can support them when conducting interviews in relation to Qualitative methodology.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Analyse the impact psychology can have on investigations.
2.
Analyse how psychology is applied to the field of investigation
3.
Evaluate how psychology can contribute towards an improved, balanced and fair criminal justice system.
4.
Evaluate how key psychological issues affect policing investigations in relation to qualitative methodologies.

Outline Syllabus:Qualitative versus Quantitative methodology Interviewing techniques Studying crime Powers of observation Crime case studies Document analysis
Additional Information:This module explores the qualitative research methodologies in relation to crime and investigation. Also the module will explore the strengths and limitations of eye witness testimony, it will explore concepts of investigative interviewing and explore relevant case studies to assist learning.
