Aims
*Develop a systematic understanding of the literature relevant to the concept of
evidence based practice as it relates to Policing.
*Critically evaluate the theoretical literature with respect to its relevance to the
concept of evidence based practice as it relates to Policing.
*Explore the epistemological, methodological and ethical underpinnings of the study.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Examine the origins and concepts linked with the emergence of Evidence Based
Policing and apply this to current policing strategies.
2.
Analyse the various sources of Evidence Based Information and analyse how
these are linked to specific crime problems.
3.
Analyse the challenges associated with applying evidence based strategies and
tactics, including place based and/or problem solving preventative strategies.
