Aims

The aim of the module is to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of key concepts related to the management and evaluation of Applied Theatre and Community Drama projects and to develop the learner’s ability to apply those skills to a live project. In addition students will explore the issues that affect the development of freelance facilitation/directing practice.

Learning Outcomes

Apply a range of operational management skills including scheduling, basic finance planning and evaluation to a live project.

Identify and appraise the key issues in self-employment including Schedule D and Insurance.
3.
Identify and analyse potential employment and enterprise opportunities for the freelance facilitator/director.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will develop techniques and skills to enable them to oversee and manage successful delivery and evaluation of Applied Theatre / Community Drama projects. Assessment will be focused on a Project Management Portfolio and an Evaluation Report produced by students. Students will create evidence drawn from a project delivered elsewhere on the programme. The portfolio reflects the kind of work undertaken by professional ATCD projects for example, the outreach and education departments of cultural institutions, by community based, constituted, creative organisations, by small scale enterprises such as freelance practitioners. Students will be expected to produce a operational project plans, with embedded monitoring and evaluation processes. Students will also need to demonstrate their understanding of the issues surrounding the development of a freelance portfolio of ATCD work including tax, insurance and workflow.
