Outline Syllabus:Overview of Facilities Management Definition of Facilities Management, Distinction between facilities management & other services, Role of facilities management – end user and business requirements, cost reduction, regulatory compliance Responsibility/ Risks in Facilities Management Typical scope of facilities management – mechanical, electrical & plumbing assets, difference in asset maintenance requirements, Description of typical risks to the provision of facilities Models for Facilities Management Classification and description of different service delivery models for facilities management - In-House, Partially Outsourced, Totally Outsourced, Total Facilities Management (TFM), Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) Description of the advantages and disadvantages of each of these models – Cost, Quality, Compliance of Service Typical Management Structures Key Management Functions in Facilities Management Description of the key management functions – Human Resource, Physical Resource, Financial, Contract, Asset, Project, Risk, Health and Safety, Waste, Description of levels of management – Strategic, Development, Operational Communication in Facilities Management Description of the various methods of communication a manager can use, effectiveness & advantages of communication, typical issues in communication
