Aims
To evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of research methodologies and approaches, demonstrating effective referencing, applied to a range of theories and practices, associated with communication.
Knowledge and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and their appropriate use.
Critical thinking.
Principles of research, academic writing, critical analysis and literature review.
Studies will explore theories and models relating to team working, dynamics and function
Learning Outcomes

Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different research methodologies and
approaches to planning research activity.
2.
Demonstrate proficiency in academic writing and presentation, in accordance with
ethical protocols, and exhibit effective referencing skills.
3.
Discuss the features and merits of quantitative and qualitative research
techniques, including the codification and interpretation of data.
4.
Discuss a diverse range of theories and practices associated with communication.
5.
Evaluate theories of team dynamics, team building processes, team-building skills
and strategies to enhance individual and team performance based upon objective
analysis of models.

Additional Information:Lectures and other activities will provide the students with information to enable them to, practically apply the knowledge acquired, within the workshop tasks. Discussions and activities such as evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of research methodologies and approaches. Or evaluating team dynamics, and examining why inter-personal conflict can occur within a team. Directed Study will be designed to consolidate knowledge and support students' development on an individual basis.
