Aims

1. To introduce students to the psychology of risk-taking behaviours and threat assessment in the context of health, digital communication and crime 2. To develop students' ability to evaluate risk-taking behaviours and threat assessment in applied psychology from multiple perspectives 3. To facilitate students' personal and educational development through structured and supported tutorials

Describe and evaluate how research in Health Psychology, Social Psychology and Forensic Psychology can be applied to the contemporary world

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Risky health behaviour: sexual behaviour, eating behaviour, substance use, physical activity, psychological approaches to reducing healthy behaviour. Self and others in the digital age: self efficacy, self-esteem, non-verbal communication, multi-tasking, psychological approaches to promoting online safety. Crime and conflict: terrorism, terrorism and the media, cybercrime, psychological approaches to crime prevention
Module Overview:
This module will introduce you to the psychology of risk-taking behaviours and threat assessment in the context of health, digital communication and crime. It will develop your ability to evaluate risk-taking behaviours and threat assessment in applied psychology from multiple perspectives.
Additional Information:The module will engage with content relevant to three applied domains in psychology: Health Psychology (risky health behaviour), Social Psychology (self and others in the digital age) and Forensic Psychology (crime and conflict). Each topic will be covered from multiple perspectives
