Aims

1. To enable the student to develop the academic and digital literacy skills necessary to perform effectively in a Higher Education context 2. To develop students’ understanding of their professional subject area, and their skills in team work in a collaborative environment using industry standard collaborative CAD and design tools. 3. To develop student’s self awareness skills, and their personal development planning through CPD 4. To develop students understanding of Risk Management, Health and Safety and sustainability

Make use of computer simulation within the context of civil engineering, and demonstrate an understanding of the limitations of the simulation

Outline Syllabus:Design in a collaborative context Use of BIM Theory and practice of group working Risk assessment and risk management Sustainability and Environmental impact assessment Construction programme planning Academic Literacy, report writing, research skills, referencing, critical thinking Presentation skills CPD and PDP, reflective practice, ICE membership requirements
Module Overview:
This module develops your knowledge of management concepts within Civil Engineering through a variety of tasks, mostly working in groups but with elements of individual work. The module will enable you to develop the academic and digital literacy skills necessary to perform effectively in a Higher Education context.
Additional Information:The module develops the students’ knowledge of management concepts within Civil Engineering through a variety of tasks, mostly working in groups but with elements of individual work. Students will continue to develop their communication skills. Where this module is part of a Degree Apprenticeship programme, the knowledge learning outcomes are K1, K3, K7 and K8, the skills learning outcomes are S1, S4, S9 and S10 and the behaviours learning outcomes are B8.
