Aims
The block Professional project placement is embedded within this module and the aim is to develop knowledge of research methods, as appropriate to the programme of study, and how they are applied in the field. This module will engage students in reflections on the block Professional project placement and support the development of student enquiry. Students will reflect on their experiences and engage in the processes necessary to write an academic research proposal for consideration and adaptation at level 6.

Structure a viable research proposal, applying appropriate techniques in relation to the chosen topic.

Investigate appropriate, ethical research methods as related to the chosen topic.
3.
Analyse personal reflections on the Professional project placement.

Outline Syllabus:Reflection and revisiting research methods proposed for assessed work in module 5201EdStud and the block professional project placement in semester two.
Drawing on the literature review carried out for module 5201EdStud
Evaluating appropriateness of research methods
Investigating working with different research participants
Investigating accessing research participants
Ethical considerations: assent and consent
Ethical practice in research
Constructing a research proposal

Additional Information:This core module builds on the acquisition of skills and knowledge related to the literature review constructed in the core module 5201EdStud, Student Enquiry into research methods and scaffolds the level 6 core dissertation research module 6201EdStud. Students will complete this core module following their block professional project placement.
