Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Outline Syllabus: The material relevant to the topic will be determined through the student's own research and in consultation with the module leader and/or supervisor; the object of study will be finalised at a sufficiently early stage to allow for analysis, development of thesis, and writing up. Students will be required to submit their idea for a research topic to the module leader at the beginning of the semester. They will then consult their designated supervisor to negotiate a 'learning contract': this will state the commitments of both parties and the dates of at least two further supervision sessions, along the following lines: 1. (initial meeting) outline of project 2. survey of field: selected annotated bibliography, engagement with critical text(s) 3. submission of rough draft or significant portion, for formative feedback The project will involve elements of research and writing but may also involve other elements, e.g. field work and documentation, blog, or creative / visual forms of presentation.
