Aims
To develop practical skills in crime scene processing and investigation, recovery and packaging of evidence within current policy requirements.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically evaluate current methods of crime scene investigation and demonstrate an understanding of evidential versus intelligence values.
2.
Recognise, evaluate and interpret a wide variety of physical evidence using appropriate methods
3.
Present results of forensic analyses in a manner suitable for legal proceedings demonstrating an understanding of the legal framework in which forensic scientists work.

Outline Syllabus:Crime scene processing including photography.
Sexual assault investigation and other specialist areas.
Toolmark and glass evidence recovery and examination methods
Blood Pattern Analysis including chemical enhancement methods
Streamlined Forensic Reporting
Document analysis
Drugs at a crime scene
General search and recovery techniques
