Aims

1. Develop students' knowledge and understanding of the legislative and policy framework which sets out the parameters for Policing in England and Wales and the relationship between the statutory and voluntary sector. 2. Provide the opportunity for students to explore the application of these frameworks through practical learning and application in communities.

Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse the key theoretical, philosophical, political, legislative, organisational, policy and practice frameworks which underpin effective third sector working.
2.
Identify the opportunities and challenges presented for social welfare with particular reference to the social impacts for diverse communities.
3.
Apply knowledge in the third sector environment be able to summarise how support agencies contribute to the wider policing and criminal justice system.
4.
Explain how a statutory or voluntary organisations works within the community
5.
Reflect on the development of skills and how this is relevant to the working environment.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Philosophical, Political, Organisational, Legislative Theory and Policy perspectives Policing: Key Practice Issue. Critical Case review: Challenges and opportunities in the field.
Module Overview:
This module will develop your knowledge and understanding of the legislative and policy framework which sets out the parameters for Policing in England and Wales, alongside the relationship between the statutory and voluntary sector. You will be provided with the opportunity to explore the application of these frameworks through practical learning and application in communities.
Additional Information:Students will be expected to plan their placement and obtain the necessary risk-assessment prior to the commencement of the module. They will be given access to all the relevant material from May of Level 4 onwards in a dedicated area of the Programme Community Site.
