Aims
Through this module students will develop an awareness of some areas at the forefront of Biomedical Science development, and extend their career planning to organisational awareness and making things happen
Learning Outcomes
1.
Discuss a current Biomedical topic in depth
2.
Present a research paper for discussion by a small group
3.
Submit the Organisational Awareness and Making Things Happen statements and reflect on the feedback to support their career development plan
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The lecture programme will reflect the interests and expertise of staff. Topics may include, for example, bioinformatics, '-omics', genetics of complex disease, biomaterials, inflammation, toxicology, new approaches to diagnosis and monitoring of disease, drug design, nanotechnology. Students will attend workshops on the' organisational awareness' and 'making things happen' statements and develop skills in reflective practice. An introduction to Enterprise will be included.
