Aims
1. To allow students undertake an in-depth and defined research paper on a topic arising from studies undertaken in another module or modules at Level 5.
2. To develop the ability of students to plan, implement and complete a substantial piece of written work under the guidance of a supervisor who has subject expertise.
3. To develop the ability of students to discern, analyse and present a range of sources in a clear and articulate manner.

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:In this module students will write a 5000 words research paper worth 100% on one of the option modules taken in either Semester 1 or Semester 2. Students will be supervised according to subject specialism. This ensures that students have both a basic knowledge base and expertise as a foundation for their long essay. The 5000 words essay must be on a different period and/or topic to the written assignment submitted in option modules. The essay will be allocated to supervisors according to specialism.

Additional Information:In Semester 2 students write a 5000 words research paper worth 100%. Students will be supervised according to subject specialism. Students choose one of ten questions on which to write their essay.
