2. To enable students to recognise different forms and genres used in the period;
3. To facilitate students in understanding the concept of the Early Modern and issues of historical change and continuity;

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Teaching on the module will be organised into three blocks, each focussing on one of the module’s title themes. Each block will introduce students to different literary genres (poetry, drama, fictional and non-fictional prose) and cultural forms and will identify issues of relevant historical transformation and resistance.

Additional Information:The first assignment will ask students to choose an appropriate text from the Early English Books Online (EEBO) database, to edit this text for a modern reader, and to provide a critical introduction to it.
