Aims

To offer a choice of specialist areas of practice which activate and extend students' awareness of the practical processes involved in creating/performing in a specialist area of Drama; To develop understanding of the particular conventions and stylistic approaches within the chosen specialism, and the critical field in which it sits. To develop skills and competencies in the vocabularies and practice of the specialist area.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students opt for one of a range of specialist areas of practice (in past years these have included Radio drama, Acting for Screen, Stage Combat, Musical Theatre, Stand-up comedy, Physical Theatre, Puppetry, Immersive, One-on-one, Storytelling, and Children’s theatre, among others.) The work is tutor led in providing key knowledge of conventions, styles and practices of the respective specialism, but students are expected to self-direct their collaborative practice in generating a performance appropriate to the specialism. Tutors will of course mentor and provide developmental feedback on the performance project.
Module Overview:
In this workshop module you will develop further skills leading to a sharing of material explored in an appropriate format. You will be offered a choice of specialist areas of practice which activate and extend your awareness of the practical processes involved in creating/performing in a specialist area of Drama. You will then develop your understanding of the particular conventions and stylistic approaches within the chosen specialism, and the critical field in which it sits.
Additional Information:A workshop module where students develop further specialist skills leading to a sharing of material explored in an appropriate format.
