Aims
This module aims to provide students with a broad understanding of contemporary sport legislation and bodies involved within the regulation, administration and operation of sport. It will also explore the relationship between sport and the law focusing on sports regulation and jurisprudence and their impact on sports delivery and governance.
Learning Outcomes

Evaluate the concepts, principles and values of law within the sport environment.

Appraise how jurisprudence intersects with sport participation, governance, regulation and management of sport.
3.
Analyse a legal issue in sport and prepare a written and oral defence of a legal position.

Competition and the Law of The Commercial Integrity of sport

Module Overview:
This module aims to provide students with a broad understanding of contemporary sport legislation and bodies involved within the regulation, administration and operation of sport. It will also explore the relationship between sport and the law focusing on sports regulation and jurisprudence and their impact on sports delivery and governance.
This module aims to provide students with a broad understanding of contemporary sport legislation and bodies involved within the regulation, administration and operation of sport. It will also explore the relationship between sport and the law focusing on sports regulation and jurisprudence and their impact on sports delivery and governance.
Additional Information:
In this module students will be introduced to the foundational principles in law before examining the intersections between sport and the law before looking at the contemporary issues and questions around this intersection. Guest speakers in the form of legal experts/practitioners and ports agents are key to the delivery and commitment to both theory and practice that defines this optional module. The assessment consists of a live debate with teams of 2 debating an issue covered in preceding lectures, the teams will need to submit a written statement prior detailing their research conducted in preparation.
