Aims

This module has one aim: To provide students with an understanding of how to locate and interpret relevant research evidence, and how this evidence may be used to support nursing practice

Learning Outcomes

1.
Apply the principles of systematic literature search to identify the evidence base for practice;
2.
Differentiate between a variety of research methodologies appropriate for health and social care;
3.
Reflect upon the relationship between research and evidence based practice;
4.
Analyse the key features of health and social care organisations; and
5.
Evaluate the quality of research-based evidence in nursing.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Introduction to the module, assignment and writing skills Lecture on searching the literature Lecture on quantitative research and the research process Lecture on qualitative research, sampling, and the research process Lectures and online resources on the rationale for, conduct of, and publications resulting from research studies conducted by senior EHC faculty Group Tutorial Individual Tutorial
