Aims

Aim(s) of the module is to provide an understanding about various functions of site management and production control and to demonstrate an understanding of effective communication and coordination at the site level.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Describe the construction industry with reference to company structures and stakeholders.
2.
Review the roles and responsibilities of the construction professionals at pre-tender, pre-contract and contract stages of the project.
3.
Identify fundamentals of effective site management and production control within the construction environment.
4.
Articulate a coherent strategy for planning resources on construction sites.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:-Introduction to site management procedures: Management of Resources -Supply Chain -External and Internal factors influences on-site management -Effective communication and coordination at the site level (client, subcontractors) -Resource management: Physical and Human -Risk management process: Risk identification, assessment, control, monitor and review -The application of theory to practice -The construction business environment -Operational management of organisations -Management performance systems -Strategic management -Key performance indicators -Managing staff -Construction projects -Budgets -Timescales
