Aims
This module will discuss how legal and regulatory frameworks within healthcare apply to organisations. Students will be introduced to the impact of the frameworks on decision making and business operations.
On successful completion of this module, students will be able to demonstrate the impact of the frameworks on healthcare businesses.
Learning Outcomes

Analyse legal and regulatory frameworks in healthcare.

Discuss legal authority of different inspection frameworks.
3.
Apply the responsibilities of healthcare managers to legal and regulatory frameworks within healthcare.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Relationship between the Law and Ethics in a healthcare environment
How the Law requires health care professionals and clinicians to behave.
Looking at Confidentiality, Probity, Consent, Openness etc with reference to the code of practices that clinicians are bound by. How the Law requires individual healthcare businesses to conduct themselves (e.g. Health and Safety, Fire Regulations, Chemical Controls, Corporate Manslaughter, Vicarious Responsibility for staff and contractors actions, Compensation law)
The basic frameworks for Employment Law and how these impact on Healthcare workforce and Management
The basic frameworks of Mental Health Law, Competency , Balancing Personal Liberty and Civil Risk and the inspection framework for CQC
