Aims

The aim of this module is to introduce students to their professional subject area, providing an early opportunity to develop an understanding of the role of a real estate professional and the structure and purpose of professional bodies. Core to this module is the embedding of academic research and writing skills within the context of a professional project scenario.

Learning Outcomes

Work and communicate in a professional, integrative and collaborative environment.

Identify the role of, and tasks undertaken by, real estate practitioners and the structure of the professional and ethical framework.

Recognize the range of academic and professional resources; locate and utilize them effectively.

Identify and reflect upon the following aspects of self-awareness in respect of personal development and career planning: strengths and weaknesses, motivations and values, ability to work with others.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
This module will enable students to work collaboratively to make decisions on a project designed to develop their academic skills within the context of the professional environment.
The module will introduce and develop a range of competencies that are evidenced within the context of the report and presentation brief such as; academic databases, digital technologies, professional and ethical considerations, report writing, citation and presentation skills.
Self-reflection: Students will also reflect on their skillset and identify key areas for professional and academic development.
Additional Information:
The central theme of the module is the development of academic and professional skills.
Group work will introduce students to the collaborative and inclusive nature of the work place and professional activities and behaviours.
