Aims
The aim of this module is to provide the student with
1. A recognition of the student“s individual singing potential and the development of personal strategies for the development of their singing voice (rectification of vocal issues and increasing range etc.);
2. A clear understanding of the physiological characteristics of the singing voice;
3. An understanding of the key vocal techniques required for safe and sustained singing performance;
4. The ability to sing in an appropriate style a range of diverse popular music forms (as appropriate for their own voice and vocal characteristics)
Learning Outcomes

Describe and demonstrate a recognition of their own individual singing potential and the development of personal strategies for the development of their singing voice (rectification of vocal issues and increasing range etc.); āØ

Describe, demonstrate and identify a clear understanding of the physiology and anatomy of the singing voice; āØ

Describe and demonstrate an understanding of the key vocal techniques used in safe and sustained singing performance, using the appropriate classical style for legitimate musical theatre; āØ

Demonstrate the ability to deliver an basic level of performance, stylistically appropriate to the genre and style; āØ
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:1. One-to-one singing classes
Your one-to-one singing lesson will be where the student spends the most time focusing on the development of their individual singing style and technique. Tutor will assess and continually reassess the student“s voice in order to provide a technical programme that will be tailored specifically to suit their vocal needs. In this class students will have the opportunity to explore their vocal potential and put together a repertoire of material suitable for professional auditions.
2. Workshops and classes both in whole group and sub-groups
Repertoire/Technique:
The Repertoire classes will provide the student with the opportunity to prepare songs ready to work on in your individual lessons. The student will be guided in sourcing appropriate repertoire, learning the material from their own personal resources as opposed to the internet etc., preparation of sheet music ready to be worked on in one to one lessons.
The Technique classes will be delivered as a whole group and will require singers to work on different technical aspects of singing in in the context of the class.
Additional Information:The module introduces students to key vocal techniques and safe vocal practices. Assessment is via a performance and a portfolio of work.
