Aims

1. Visit museums, building and galleries;
2. Enhance your awareness and understanding of the role and influence of art, culture, politics, social thinking and industry on visual communication;
3. Investigate and analyse visual imagery;
4. Use drawing and sketching skills to create a visual record;
5. Produce mood boards to communicate and convey your ideas;
6. Work collaboratively identifying and fulfilling roles within a team in order achieve goals;                                                                          7. Collaboratively create a piece of visual communication based on your collective visual research.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
You will explore how to source and gather historical and contemporary visual material both in a real and virtual context.
Within the module you will investigate, interrogate, record, collate, compartmentalise and analyse visual data in order to inform idea generation and communicate those ideas to others.
You will frame discussion and argument in support of your generated ideas as a result of your visual research.
Working collaboratively, you will gain an awareness of intellectual property and of issues of ethics and values that designers must negotiate in professional practice.
You will examine the work of contemporary practitioners and investigate and research visual connections and influences.
Additional Information:
Visual research is essential in generating creative and innovative visual communications. This module will introduce you to various methods of visual research, including, photography, video and various drawing techniques.
