Aims

The module aims to provide students with an understanding of the role of statistical methodologies in business through both the study of the theory of probability and statistics, and hands-on practice using statistical software with a variety of data types and models.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Calculate and interpret descriptive statistics to summarize a data set.
2.
Calculate and interpret inferential statistics to summarize a data set.
3.
Solve a range of problems using probability theory.
4.
Demonstrate the ability to utilize a software package (Excel and SPSS) for a range of statistical applications.
