Aims
1. Develop students’ academic skills in writing and critical analysis.
2. Develop students’ awareness of sources of information and presenting information using a variety of media.
3. To explore the relationship between Forensic psychology and Policing by examining the application of psychology in the policing context.
4. To look critically at the role of the Forensic Psychology in Policing by drawing on research from a variety of areas of psychological study.
5. To explore key concepts in psychological research, and consider the contribution that research has made to Policing in practice
Learning Outcomes

Identify appropriate academic sources, retrieve and organise them and demonstrate how to organise, reference and cite work accurately

Identify psychological explanations of criminality.

Identify interactions between forensic psychology and policing and evaluate the contribution psychology has made to the policing environment.

Outline Syllabus:Referencing, selecting sources, presentation skills, essay writing and structure.
Study skills to maximise personal potential stressors, digital essays and working in groups.
Key concepts in the psychology of crime and the criminal behaviour.
History of forensic and criminal psychology.
Forensic psychology's role in policing and in the courtroom

Additional Information:To examine students study skills, academic referencing and writing and to examine the court system of England and Wales. Students will be able to identify the interactions between Forensic Psychology and Policing, including an overview of the historical developments of forensic and legal psychology.
