Aims

To develop a holistic understanding of a modern quantity surveyor’s roles, interactions, collaborations, and value propositions throughout construction project lifecycle

Learning Outcomes

1.
Define stages (phases) of a typical construction project and identify project participants involved.
2.
Review the role of quantity surveyor in each project stage (phase) and discuss interactions/collaborations that they have with other project participants.
3.
Identify required inputs, processes, and outputs that a quantity surveyor delivers/executes at each project stage.
4.
Establish links between quantity surveyor’s standard tasks and activities conducted at each project phase and professional body competencies.
5.
Identify rules of conduct and ethical code of quantity surveying professional practice.
