Aims

To introduce students to the underpinning principles to criminal liability and legal defences

Learning Outcomes

Explain, illustrate and demonstrate legal knowledge of the main substantive offences and defences in a succinct, coherent and logical structure.

Demonstrate a sufficient degree of specialist knowledge in the subject area.
3.
Appraise a particular area of debate in criminal law and evaluate the merits/benefits or drawbacks of the current state of law.

Module Overview:
This module introduces you to the underpinning principles to criminal liability and legal defences. You will learn to explain, illustrate and demonstrate legal knowledge of the main offences and defences in a succinct, coherent and logical structure, alongside the ability to appraise a particular area of debate in criminal law and evaluate the benefits or drawbacks of the current state of law.
Additional Information:Thief module that aims to introduce the student to the essential principles of substantive offences and defences in criminal law.
