Outline Syllabus:Introduction to policy Health and safety legislation, and regulations that maintain safe work and care environments Health economics Recognising public protection risks Safeguarding for mental health Risk assessments for adults Understanding mental capacity Introducing the mental health act Patient advocate Introduction to Mental health assessments communication Safety through risk assessments, data governance, health and safety policies, Care Quality Commission, human factor training, WHO, SBAR, HALT, patient safety checklists, safe staffing and skill mix. Policy development, policy and practice relationship, local and national frameworks. Health economics, health needs assessments, procurement, resource allocation, ethics, evidence based practice. Module Overview:
The aim of this module is to understand how the policy environment shapes the care that healthcare professionals deliver. In addition to the contact hours above there are 160 private study hours. 100 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation.

Online hours are e-learning. 60 hours are independent study Please note that workshop hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
