Aims
To provide opportunities for education professionals to develop their awareness of Mentoring and Communication in education.
To encourage students to develop critical faculties in relation to research, policy and practice with regards to the topic, thus providing opportunities for academic and professional development.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Review current education policy, legislation and initiatives in relation to personal practice.
2.
Discuss the theoretical perspectives within these initiatives.
3.
Identify the research literature available which relates to current policy in relation to national and institutional practices.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:This module centres on examination of mentoring and communication in education from the perspective of the critical, reflective professional. Issues of current interest will be examined across a range of educational provision. Differences in policy implementation frameworks will be presented and examined.

Additional Information:This module provides the opportunity for students to examine theory and initiatives in education and to relate this topic to their own practice. Students are encouraged to critically reflect and to discuss initiatives, linking theory and practice and consider the impact of theory and key policies on their own job roles.
