Aims
To introduce students to self-directed contemporary art practice .
To develop and realize a self-directed contemporary art practice in appropriate media, negotiated with Fine Art Staff
To familiarise students with the broader context of contemporary Fine Art issues and possible modes of dissemination and distribution of their work in Liverpool.
To introduce the notion of studio practice towards the production and distribution of contemporary Fine Art practice.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Demonstrate the ability to develop work through experimentation in order to diagnose and start to build coherent and meaningful individual practices
2.
Identify a variety of roles available for the artist within the cultural sector and formulate a corresponding strategy for the dissemination and publication of their Fine Art within the city of Liverpool.
3.
Demonstrate, through the production and dissemination of a body of practical work, an initial awareness of appropriate modes and situations for publishing their work.
4.
Be able to analyse the value of experimentation in developing a practice and delivering a body of work
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The aim of the module is to further the basic elements of contemporary Fine Art practice and begin to evolve notions of critical practice, enabling students to build and contextualise theoretical methodologies surrounding their own work with relationship to the contemporary art world.
The module will introduce students to a selection of professional agencies based in the city and allow them to experience a ‘live’ project from inception to completion. Students will continue learning how to use Flexible Working/Shared Studio Practice, to work in the Public Domain, to engage with Canvas, and be taught by Tutorials and Assessed by Review and Stages of Assessment.

Additional Information:This module will enable all level 4 students to start to take some control of their developing practices and to test them in the framework of their choice. It will be supported through an intensive programme of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, critiques and through working with Liverpool based agencies and institutions
