Set out the basic parameters and features of British political, social and cultural history through the nineteenth- and twentieth-centuries which account, through time, for our sense of national, local and social identity.
Explore the meaning of ‘identity’, where it comes from, what are its foundations, how is it made and reformed over time and relative to context.
Outline the key features of British culture and society to act as a foundation for future studies.
