Aims
To introduce the role of collaborative and individual practice within the culture of the programme.
To introduce a variety of approaches to the development and production of contemporary Fine Art practice.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate the ability to work as individuals and in groups in the production and delivery of work that develops individual Fine Art practices

Engage in discussion and critical evaluation of their own and other student’s Fine Art Practices

Demonstrate some knowledge of underpinning ideas and theories in contemporary fine art practice.

Prepare and deliver a presentation of their practice
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The aim of the module is to introduce students to the basic elements of contemporary Fine Art practice, and to begin to evolve an understanding through experimentation, and exploration and research of current issues in Fine Art. This will enable students to build and contextualise theoretical methodologies surrounding their own work with relationship to the contemporary art world. This Module will also introduce you to the Cultural and Artistic Infrastructure of the City, Flexible Working/Shared Studio Practice, Working in the Public Domain, Backboard, Tutorials and Assessment by Review.

Additional Information:This Module will enable all level 4 students to explore ideas in the widest possible framework, and to allow an equality of experience to develop. This will be supported through an intensive programme of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and critiques. This Module will also introduce students to the role that collaborative working plays in the development of ideas and the presentation of those ideas as proposals for making/negotiating the realisation of individual practices.
