Aims

To build upon practice experiences from ‘introduction to practice 1’ to further introduce students to a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice

Learning Outcomes

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Understanding and challenging discriminatory behaviours Communication across the lifespan and with people who have a variety of physical, cognitive and behavioural health challenges Emotional Intelligence Supporting people at all stages of life with physical and/or emotional vulnerabilities Numeracy and medications Literacy Digital and technological skills for developing safe effective nursing care Drug administration Pain management across the lifespan Wound Care Asepsis Introduction to maternity care Introduction to essential first aid A, B, C, D, E Risk management Clinical instruction Nursing in relation to: general and specialist medicine general and specialist surgery child care and paediatrics maternity care mental health and psychiatry care of the old and geriatrics home nursing. Module Overview:
This module helps you to build upon practice experiences from Introduction to Practice 1. It will further introduce you to a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice. You will participate in guided care, conduct nursing care, and enhance your knowledge and skills relevant to medicines management, all to the required NMC standards.
Additional Information:The Academic Assessor will monitor that the student has completed 337.5 practice hours. This includes any practice placement learning and simulated practice learning, in accordance with the students programme plan. These hours are not included in the total module hours but are noted within the module proforma for university monitoring and progression purposes. In addition to the contact hours above there are 160 private study hours. 100 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation. Online hours are e-learning. 60 hours are independent study Please note that workshop hours as listed in the above contact hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
