Aims

To introduce students to basic broadcast news techniques To introduce students to a range of story treatments used in broadcast media To demonstrate an understanding of the basic techniques of recording audio, filming and editing material for TV and/or radio broadcast. To develop an understanding of the conventions of broadcast media and how radio and TV news and sport bulletins are put together

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:This module provides an introduction to broadcast. Students will be taught current professional broadcast conventions and develop the basic technical skills necessary to produce material for radio and/or TV. They will learn how to write for broadcast and develop story treatments; they will become familiar with industry-standard software as they learn how to shoot and edit video and how to capture and edit audio.

Additional Information:This module is the forerunner to Developing Broadcast Skills at L5 and aims to give students a basic understanding and knowledge of broadcast on which to build through Levels 5 and 6.
