Aims

1. To introduce students to the different dramatic storytelling issues that operate in screen, stage and radio narratives. 2. To introduce students to correct formatting practices in each of these scriptwriting forms. 3. To introduce students to a range of stage, screen and radio genres.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:In a series of interactive lectures/seminars/screenings students will view and listen to a range of cinematic, theatrical and radio texts, looking at ways in which these dramatic forms communicate stories through a variety of verbal and non verbal methods. Students will be introduced to key formatting requirements of each form and to ways in which they interrelate and diverge.
Module Overview:
This module is designed to introduce you to the differing demands of scriptwriting for three major dramatic genres screen, stage and radio. It introduces you to the formats used in these three forms and encourages you to engage with the process of visual, verbal and aural storytelling in relation to the same.
