Aims

The Professional Studies module aims to ensure that students are able to place their work and the work of others in both a broad socio-cultural and creative context. It provide students with a broad overview of the performing arts economy and prepares students for further education and/or the professional industry. Critical writing skills are also developed through this module.

Learning Outcomes

Explore the relationships between key historical, cultural, and contextual issues in dance

Apply research and writing skills in an appropriate academic format

Promote and market themselves appropriately for dance auditions

Apply reflective evaluation skills in learning, professional development and career planning in the performing arts

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The module provides the student with a broad overview of the performing arts both as a commercial activity and an arts practice. Covered are: Training for the Performing Arts Employment in the Performing Arts Economy (key roles etc) Research and application/audition for further education Critical Writing skills appropriate for further education application
