Aims

To enable students to further develop a range of underpinning skills, especially in data and statistical analysis to aid study in their chosen academic programme. To provide a structured tutorial component that contains both academic and personal development planning and employability material. To introduce the students to current areas of research interest within the molecular and forensic biosciences.

Learning Outcomes

Provide an overview of selected topical issue in molecular or forensic bioscience.

Evaluate the scientific content of current popular research topics
3.
Apply scientific approaches to solve problems.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Skills: Data analysis, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, experimental design, presentation of results, report writing, using scientific literature, poster design. A series of lectures in molecular and forensic bioscience highlighting current research topics at a suitable level for students to be able to choose an area for their poster.

Additional Information:This module should provide students with an appreciation of data analysis and how to present scientific results. Students will also be introduced to current research areas within the molecular and forensic biosciences.
