To introduce students to key principles underpinning civil law and the civil justice system To explore the purpose of civil law and civil justice To develop a basic awareness of the key elements of Tort and Contract Law To establish key concepts relating to Alternative Dispute Resolution To explore notions of justice, the civil justice system in terms of personnel and key values underpinning it

Outline Syllabus:An outline of the civil justice system An introduction to the Law of Tort An Introduction to Contract Law An outline of the key differences between Tort and Contract A treatment of notions of civil justice The structure and personnel in the civil justice system The nature and types of ADR Focused case studies to illustrate the content listed above
Module Overview:
The aim of this module is to introduce you to key principles underpinning civil law and the civil justice system. You will explore the purpose of civil law and civil justice and will develop a basic awareness of the key elements of Tort and Contract Law. You will also learn key concepts relating to Alternative Dispute Resolution and will explore notions of justice, the civil justice system and the key values underpinning it.
