Aims

This module will provide students with the opportunity to understand contemporary issues in Criminal Justice.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Identify the key players in contemporary English criminal justice
2.
Understand the key ideas explaining why crime is committed.
3.
Understand the development and current principles and practices driving criminal justice in England, including policing, court processes and punishment
4.
Understand current challenges to mainstream criminal justice, such as race and gender issues, restorative justice and miscarriages of justice
