1. To give an overview of the interplay between individuals and their surroundings
2. To study the way in which the natural environment and built environment shapes individuals
3. To give students an understanding of scientific research in this area which is related to their degree programme
4. To prepare students to consider the real-world applications of scientific research in this area.

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Lectures will introduce students to issues around the environment and how that impacts on human behaviour and experience.
Indicative topics include climate change, causes of ill health and death related to the environment, impacts of natural disasters, improving wellbeing through environmental change, changing attitudes and behaviours in relation to the environment, and links between the environment and societal degradation. The goal is to have the experiences of a wide variety of students represented as important topics for study in the module, and the specific topic list is guided by student feedback. Indicative examples are the effects of a poverty environment, alternative political environments, and racism as an environment for psychological processes.
